We've been stuck on this island for a few days now and we've made very little progress. Majority of us voted for Ralph to be the leader, but that's pretty much the only thing we've established so far. We tried this method of using a conch shell to determines who gets to talk, but apparently that rule exists for everyone but me. Most of the time, I feel like I'm invisible on this island. I try to share and pitch my ideas, but no one seems to notice that I'm there. The only time that people talk to me is to yell at me or to ask for my glasses to start a fire. Ralph, Jack, and I all have different ideas for how things should go on this island, and no one really knows who to listen to. Well, they don't know if they should listen to Ralph or Jack, since I'm just known as the fat boy. Ralph and I could have the exact same idea, but people will only listen if Ralph says it. It's just so frustrating here!
I sure hope we get rescued soon because the future isn't looking too good for us on this island. Some are getting sick because of the overwhelming amount of fruit that we've been eating, and others are having some pretty realistic nightmares about a "beastie" that hunts in the dark. Also, at midday, it seems as if there are images floating on the surface of the water surrounding us. I told the littleuns that it's just a "mirage" so they wouldn't be frightened, but honestly I was a little concerned myself. What could possibly cause the coral and palm trees to float up in the sky? This island is getting weirder and weirder by the day. The only good news is that Jack and his group finally caught a pig, but Jack didn't want to give me any! He said that I "didn't hunt" but neither did anyone else, yet they still got some. I'm just glad that Simon gave me his piece; he's the only person who's ever done something nice for me so far.
I hope that as soon as we get off this island, I never have to see Jack again for the rest of my life. All he cares about is his dumb pig that he killed! Our rescue plan was to keep a fire going so if a ship sailed by, the could see the smoke and maybe come to save us. Well, a ship did come by, but had no clue that anyone was on the island because Jack let the fire out! That could have been our only chance to get rescued for a while, and he blew it. I finally had the courage to stand up to Jack, but he smacked me hard in face and broke my specs. Now I only got one eye. Then, he started mimicking me, and acting like a child. None of that is going to help us get rescued, but that fire sure could of.
